IPets/Petrainer Product Questions

Q: How old does my dog have to be before using our training systems?

Your dog should be able to learn basic obedience commands such as "sit" or "stay."

Q: Are there weight requirements to use your systems?

We generally recommend the dog to be above 15 pounds but it's more about your dog's neck size than weight. View our collar sizing page.

Q: I lost my transmitter or receiver, am I able to replace the missing device without purchasing a new training system?

Yes, click on remote transmitter to purchase a replacement transmitter and click on receiver to purchase a replacement receiver.

Q: My collar strap has extra material hanging off from my dog's neck, can you cut down the collar strap?

Yes, but you can only cut down collar straps that made out of plastic material. You can't cut our nylon collar straps.

Q: What are these 3 sets of metal prongs in a little baggy within my product box?

What you're looking at is what we refer to as Contact Points. Contact points attach to the metal screws on your collar receiver. Simply, use your hands to tighten them on the screws. To choose what size of contact point to use, base it off your dog's fur length. If they have long fur, use the long contact points. Short fur, use the short contact points.

Q: What is this translucent, white piece with a bulb in the center that's enclosed in my product box?

You're looking at our static shock tester. This allows you to test to see if the static shock is operating correctly. Please follow the procedure listed in your manual.

Q: Can you pair two collars to one channel?

Yes, if you wish to stimulate both collars simultaneously, you can pair them to the same channel. Simply do the pairing or synchronization process that's listed in the manual for your model but don't select a different channel.

Q: Can I use the training systems on aggressive pets?

No. Please do not use these training systems to correct or eliminate any form of aggression or biting behavior. In the event your dog is showing signs of aggressive behavior, then contact a professional dog trainer.

Q: Can I replace the collar strap with another kind of collar?

No.

Q: Can I attach a leash to the collar receivers?

No. This can result in pulling the metal probes too tightly against your dog's neck. Attach a leash to separate, nonmetallic collar or a harness, ensuring the extra collar does not put pressure on the metal probes.

Q: How do I test my Petrainer PET853

To test your bark collar, simply ensure the power is on and blow into the back of the receiver.

Q: Which of your units is waterproof?

Click on waterproof receiver e-collars to find them. Click on waterproof transmitter and receiver e-collars to find them. Click on waterproof receiver vibration collars to find them. ThermoPro Product Questions

Q: What does the LLL or HHH mean on the LCD Display?
This usually means that the probe may be damaged by moisture or heat causing it to be defective. You can try re-inserting the probe or re-inserting the batteries to fix this issue. If you've tried this and the reading is still off, please contact usas the probe may be damaged.

Q: What can your thermometers measure?
Our Thermometers are mainly used for many different kinds of meats, but they can also be used for water, candy and oil as long as it is within the specified temperature range.

Q: How do you synchronize the transmitter and receivers together for your digital wireless thermometers?
This is very simple, remove the batteries from both the receiver and the transmitter and remove the stainless steel probe. First, re-insert the batteries into the receiver. Second, re-insert the stainless steel probe into the transmitter. Third, re-insert the batteries into the transmitter. The transmitter should send a temperature reading to the receiver and this temperature should now be displayed.

Q: Are your thermometers waterproof?
The answer is no, but they are rinse proof, so do not be afraid to have them around the sink, they just cannot be submerged in water!

Q: Why are the temperature readings off by a lot (at least 10+/- degrees F)
If your thermometer is  giving you a reading that is noticeably out of the desired range of temperature you seek, then it is most likely you just need to re-synchronize the receiver to the transmitter or reinsert the probe firmly into the unit. If you notice that this does not work, your probe may be damaged either by moisture or heat and please contact us.

Q: How do I properly clean the probe?
Wash the metal probe tips with hot soapy water and dry thoroughly. Do not immerse the probe in water while cleaning.

Q: What should I do to prolong the use of the probes?

Tin foil can be wrapped around the probe wire to shield to from some of the heat or flare-ups that can occur. Please never let your probe or probe wire be submerged in water.

Q: Why do I only see a "---" on the receiver where the probe temperature is supposed to be displayed?

Please follow the start up instructions located within in your unit's manual.

First, make sure the probes are fully and firmly inserted into the transmitter. Second, re-insert the batteries into the receiver. Third, re-insert the batteries into the transmitter. The transmitter should send a temperature reading to the receiver and this temperature should now be displayed.

Bathroom Scales

Q: There are fluctuations in my weight. What is this happening?

Every time a digital scale is moved it needs to be initialized and auto-calibrated. Initializing the scale resets the internal parts allowing the scale to find the correct “zero” weight and ensure accurate readings. Here is how to initialize any of our bathroom scales:

  1. Place the scale back on a hard, flat surface.
  2. With one foot, press the platform of the scale so that numbers appear on the display. Once you see zeros or dashes remove your foot.
  3. Wait for the scale to turn off again.
  4. Step up onto the scale for a weight.
  5. Your scale is now calibrated.

Q: If my scale is on carpet or other soft surfaces can I expect a correct reading?

Accuweight scales are engineered to provide maximum accuracy and will not provide accurate readings on carpeting. Linoleum, vinyl and other softer flooring can cause small variations in weight depending on how much cushion there is. For the most accurate reading, place the scale on a hard, flat surface.  Optimal surfaces include ceramic or porcelain tile, hard wood or concrete.

Q: If I move my scale will it affect the scale’s accuracy?

If possible, we recommend keeping your scale in the same position at all times (on a flat, hard surface). By keeping the scale in the same position, you'll have more accurate readings and won't experience variations. If you have to store it, you may have to recalibrate the scale to ensure accurate readings.

Q: I am seeing weights in KG or ST. How do I switch the unit of measurement?

All Accuweight scales are designed to display Metric as well as Imperial units of measure (pounds and kilograms). Every scale has a switch on the underside of the scale to change the weight. If you cannot find it please refer to your manual or call Accuweight for support.
